So while many of you might strongly dislike me during the winter months while I’m posting pictures of the sunny outdoor projects I’m working on, this is the time of year you are happy that you are not my neighbor – hurricane season is here! June 1st marked the arrival of my least favorite time of the year and we must deal with it through November 30th.
Hurricanes have been a recurring theme with my relationship with Ray. We went on our first date in 2001 because my class had been cancelled due to a hurricane watch. My bridal shower was a few days after Katrina went through Miami. Then Hurricane Wilma decided to make her appearance and do some damage the week before our wedding. It was a stressful week not knowing if we would be getting married and what I would be wearing. At least in all the pictures you can’t seen how crazy all the trees looked from the damage…
What is your not-so-favorite house project or chore that has to do with weather/natural disasters in your area?

That one’s easy for me…shoveling snow.

Hahaha cats and their expressions. 🙂 hurricane prep-I’m not jealous, you’re right. For us, the not fun part is shoveling snow. Were actually pretty blessed up here in NY that snow is really our biggest concern, though.

Luckily theres not much chances for natural disasters here in Denver. While Colorado gets some tornados in the east and wildfires in the mountains, we’re in a nice little disaster proof bubble here. There is the occasional freak weather like a hail storm that shreds your plants, and maybe damages your roof and car enough for new ones. Or every couple of winters we get a pretty hefty dumping of snow that can make getting around inconvenient, but the sun is never too far away to melt it pretty quickly.
On a more serious note, the Waldo Canyon Fire that has burnt down many homes in Colorado Springs has gotten me thinking. Even though I feel like my home is in a relatively safe area I think I need to find out what all I can do to be prepared for a total loos disaster. Important documents, making sure were fully covered insurance wise, a plan for where to hold up…..

I have about seven pine trees on my property. I think they plot to deliberately dump all of their ugly needles into the roof line that I can’t reach. I hate every stinkin’ chore in the yard, but I dislike the pine straw ones the most. Thank goodness for Craigslist – what I hate, someone else will gladly rake and take.
Love that wedding pic.

Loving the wedding photo! I hope I’m as beautiful as a bride as you were! Best couple in town!

Cute wedding photo, those are great colors! That is too funny about the hurricanes and your relationship; here’s hoping that nothing else big happens to you both! We just get rain here, lots and lots of rain, so I would trade you a day of doing shutters if it was sunny.
