valentine’s day – paper treat bags

January 18, 2012 12 Comments

Can I tell you the truth? I’m never been a huge fan of Valentine’s Day. Actually, I pretty much have hated it my entire life. Why? Because it is my birthday. I was not big on my birthday being forgotten as a child due to the hype of the holiday. And now as an adult, I hate not being able to go out to dinner on my actual birthday because of the crazy crowds and crappy service.

I guess I’m getting softer as I age because looking at all the adorable crafts on Pinterest inspired me to make little paper treat bags for my friends.

The supply list doesn’t get much easier than this. Treat bags, baker’s twine and some paper. I used no fancy tools, just some regular hand held paper punches.

I made a handful of tags cut out using the paper punches. I added a decorative heart cut out on the tags for a little extra festive touch.

I used a punch to add two tiny holes for the twine. I folded over the top of the bag and then punched the holes through both folded sides of the bag. I filled the treat bag with some goodie, then fed through the twine through both sides of the holes. The photo below shows the twine through the holes before and after I tied a small knot to tighten the top.

Add the little tag and tie another knot or two and you have an adorable and super easy treat bag for Valentine’s Day.

These are so cute! I am not a fan of valentines day either, and my son’s bday is the 15th of Feb, so I’m already feeling guilt that the poor kid’s bday is going to be all pink and red puffy hearts. :-/

Great treat bag. Pinned it for my followers. Was that Cherry Cobbler twine? No matter – – too cute! My anniversay (for being engaged) is also on Valentines Day. Not as big a deal as your birthday, but I feel some of your pain. Enjoy the day as best you can and feel the love. Enjoy your blog. Drop by mine if you can –
