Happy Monday! Hope you all had a lovely weekend. I have to say, mine was pretty productive. I wish I had photos to share but last night was my office holiday party and I was too lazy after indulging in all that food and wine to get anything done besides laying on the couch cuddling with my mutts.I did get some shopping in to help finish off a few rooms. I am so grateful that most of this was done with Amex Rewards gift cards. Such a nice little perk that I'm thankful to have. Two of these gray … [Read more...]
lay of the land – our floor plan
I don't know about you but every time I look at the houses of bloggers if a floor plan is not available I'm always trying to figure out how the rooms are laid out. It must be the genes I get from my architect father, but I always want to know which rooms are connected to which. It really helps gauge the style of the house and flow of the design. My father might kill me for posting this horrendous floor plan but I don't have the energy to sit down and try make a perfect one. This one may be off a … [Read more...]

tiling fun – subway tile backsplash time

Our walls are not exactly straight and since we decided on white subway tile for our backsplash, he convinced me to leave this to the experts. So we have been living with plain white walls since April when we did our initial reveal of the kitchen. These two photos were taken … [Read more...]
chalkboard obsession – diy chalkboard message station
After buying the chalkboard paint to make the chalkboard tables, I found myself eyeing all sorts of things to cover in chalkboard paint. I love the idea of chalkboard walls in kitchens and other spaces, but chalkboard paint on a large scale would not work in our home. I had to improvise, so I ran to Home Depot and picked up some MDF. I bought a small, thin, board for under 5 bucks. I sent the husband to cut it with the table saw in a few different sizes. He has access to the sculpture studio at … [Read more...]
eennie meenie miney moe
This seriously might be the way we select our backsplash. We didn't even look at options for a backsplash for the first few months of the house renovations. It seemed so far away at the time and such a simple detail. Yeah, right! A backsplash can make such a big difference in the entire look of the kitchen. We went a bit more traditional with our kitchen cabinets because I won most of the remodeling decisions so far and I felt the hubby should get at least one. Shhh! Don't tell him that though. … [Read more...]
