So this is a shameless beg for votes. My amazing husband, Ray of RM Pottery, is finalist in the Martha Stewart American Made Awards. He has an actual shot at winning in his category, which would give us a lot of publicity for his ceramics business. Can I beg you all to vote for him whenever you remember? You can vote up to 6 times a day until October 13th. Now here is the catch. Even though the site says you can register via Facebook and sign in that way, it doesn't seem to be … [Read more...]

the potter’s wife – rm pottery giveaway
You guys are lucky. My sponsor (and hubby) RM Pottery actually donated a beautiful tea cup as a giveaway. You want to know how lucky you are? I am the potter's wife and I don't get pretty tea cups. I don't even have plates made by him. Just like the saying goes the "shoemaker's children go without shoes", the potter's wife goes without pottery. 10 years together and I'm still waiting for my dinner set. Our house if FILLED with handmade pottery but I only get the leftovers. The random pieces that … [Read more...]
local art festivals
The hubby is a ceramic artist so we do a handful of art festivals a year. We did one this weekend which is always one of our favorites. It has such a great turnout of artists and people so it always makes for a fun weekend. The hubby won first place in the ceramics category and I am so proud of him. Here are a few of the highlights for us...We actually purchased two medium size photographs from Paul Shatz. Loved his work and that they are silver gelatin prints.Paul Shatz Fine Art PhotographyI … [Read more...]
sponsor time: rm pottery’s studio

One of the most important features was a space for a ceramic studio. We were … [Read more...]
guestroom, er, photography studio
Did you know guestrooms make good photography studios? Neither did I, until I came home to this. Men. The hubby decided to take over our guestroom, which normally looks more like the picture below to take photos of his artwork in there. Multi-tasking room, I guess. I just hope no one was planning to stay with us anytime soon!I have a few projects I am working on for this room including a mirror for our guests to use, refinishing a bookcase that can't be seen in the photo and finishing up the … [Read more...]
