something old, something new

As I’ve mentioned before, we are moving some of our furniture and then buying some new pieces and accessories since a lot of our current furniture are really just transitional pieces we acquired over the years. Since I won’t be able to be in the house much during the week while the installers are there, I’m taking advantage and doing a little shopping. Currently on the list to be purchased this week…
New duvet cover & pillow shams for the master bedroom from west elm. The bedroom will be painted a cool grayish blue when we have the room finalized so I think these will go nicely.
Two new chairs for our front living room. I am so excited about these! It is quite dangerous to have a DesignWithinReach right next to my office…so easy to get distracted in there. These are the Eames molded plastic armchairs and I’ve been lusting over them for years.
We are also going to pull the trigger and get the Flex gravel sofa from CB2 for our office/craft room. It will be a great napping spot for our one-eyed cat and will serve as an additional bed for when we have guests.

Some of the pieces joining us in our move will be…

Our aluminum dining chairs. I can’t remember where we bought them, they were the first big purchase when we moved into our first place. One of my favorite things is that they are stackable and light so I can easily move around them when cleaning and or if we need them outside for extra guests.

Our current couches, coffee table and side table will find a home in our family room. The couches are from Rooms to Go and comfy as can be. The coffee table and matching side table we put together. We had the aluminum bases made to our specs and then used nice plywood pieces and finishing strips that we sanded and stained to our preference to make the tops. We need to refinish the tops so I’ll post our process soon. Excuse the photo quality & the doggy blankets but the room is already packed and I had to pull one I had from a phone. And yes, the three dogs are also coming with us.

All of our patio furniture (and orchids) will also be making the trip. The main set is a discontinued line we scored at Home Depot from Thomasville and a few of the other chairs were deep discount scores from Target. I wish we could take the deck with us too. The hubby built it in 2008 in preparation for a baby shower we were hosting and I’m going to miss it since all we have is dirt and a stone slab right now in the new house.

    I’m so excited to read your posts…my hubby and I did a lot of work on our home when we first moved in–we made it friendly for ‘us’…but with our first baby on the way, we’re now doing a LOT of things and I need inspiration! 🙂 Good luck with your endeavors!
