this is halloween – spider wreaths

September 23, 2011 8 Comments

I’m loving the Halloween supplies out this year. I found this great spider web ribbon at Michaels and knew it would be great for a wreath. I had two mini wreath forms that were the right size french doors leading to the patio so they seemed like the perfect combination.

I made sure to wrap the ribbon with a bit of overlap to cover the form completely but without covering up too much of the design. I used a quilting pin on the back of the wreath to hold down the ribbon so if I messed up or changed my mind, I could just unpin and unravel it instead of worrying about glue.

Here is what they looked like when I was done wrapping them.

I used a smaller piece of ribbon to make a loop to hang each wreath from. I just looped the piece of ribbon and pinned it to the back of the wreath. Glue would work well too.

I pulled these spider themed stickers from the new Martha Stewart line from my stash. I thought they coordinated well with the ribbon.

I stuck them onto small pieces of paper and used a bit of black ribbon glued to the back of the paper to make a way for them to hang from the wreath.

Then I attached the ribbons to the back of the wreath for a little extra interest with hanging spiders.

I used the 3M Command hooks to attach them to the glass but I wasn’t particularly fond of the white hook showing.

I threw a sticker on each of them and it covers up the hook nicely. Sorry for the blur but you get the idea.

It is impossible to get a great photo of these on the doors because of how much light comes in but here they are – matching mini spider wreaths. It is beginning to look like Halloween around here!
