wrapping it all up

March 21, 2011 11 Comments

I hate gift bags. Yes, I use them in a pinch especially around the holidays but I much rather wrap a gift with some nice wrapping paper or try and do something a tad more creative (bonus if it is useful) in terms or containing the gift. Target carries these sand pails and I’ve used them a few times for baby/kid gifts. They come in a variety of colors to work with all sorts of themes. This latest one was for a dear friend who just welcomed her third bundle of joy.
First you start with your stash of goodies and the container which in this case is a great little sand pail. This assortment includes a couple of onesies, some stroller toy rattles, a gift card and some wash cloths.

Stuff the bottom of the pail (or other container) with tissue. You can also use diapers, wash cloths or a blanket. You just need something to act as a filler that you gifts can lay on.

Arrange your gifts along the top of the of the pail so you can showcase a few of them. Don’t worry about making them all visible, some of them can be little surprises in the bottom. In this case, I hung some of the stroller toys/rattles right off the side of the pail.

If you have clear cellophane you can wrap the gift but I didn’t have any on hand so I left it as is. So instead of showing up with a generic baby gift bag  when I stopped by to visit the new little man, I showed up with this.

Do you have any special way of wrapping up gifts to make them stand out?

What an awesome idea. I agree that gift bags are boring especially for kids. I’ll have to remember the pail next time I have a kids birthday.
