As promised, I dug up some photos of the demolition phase. We closed on the house on the 21st of December and proceeded to head straight into a crazy schedule of demolition and renovation from day one. First thing we did was move in all of our tools, bring some wine and beer and start ripping out the carpet, curtains, and anything else we could manage. The first 6 weeks were intense as we were both working the entire time but they were extremely productive. I still can’t believe the house looked like this. It seems so long ago now!
The backyard with no fence along the back of the property, a huge trash pile, broken rock/tile pathway and all the fixings. I’m sure the neighbors on the block along the back of the property hated us at this point.
Our built in BBQ, overgrown landscaping and filthy patio.
View from the dining room into the kitchen, bar and family. By this point we had ripped out most of the kitchen, wood panels and wine cabinet and all sorts of randomness in the bar area.
View from the family room during the process. Those are some stunning fans, right?
Every house needs a kitchen ceiling that looks like this.
Living room being prepped for the painting to start.
The one advantage of a complete renovation is that you can use the spray gun to prime the whole house and paint the ceilings. By this point, I knew we were making progress and would soon have something that resembled a house instead of a construction zone.

I hate the demo phase! All that dust! Lucky for you you weren’t living there during the demo. Right???? 🙂
