Pinterest is causing my list of projects to get longer and longer each day. I wouldn’t have it any other way though…it is lots of fun. I pinned this image awhile back and decided to tackle it this weekend. The great thing about Pinterest is the ability to go back to the original source of the link, in this case, I’ll Get You My Pretties.

Original Tutorial – From My Pretties

I raided the hubby’s tool box and lucky for him, there wasn’t a wide selection of washers.  I picked up a few packs of different sized ones at Home Depot during one of my weekly visits. My intention for this piece was to use it on my inspiration wall in a small frame I already had so I only picked up small washers, they have a bunch of sizes in little bags so you can pick up a variety for whatever size piece you want to make.

I printed out an M in my desired font and in size that worked well for my small canvas. I used a craft knife and a ruler to make my stencil. You can free form these too but I wanted a specific looking M for my wall so making a stencil was my best option.

After making my stencil, I used a pencil to make a very light outline on my painted canvas. Sorry for the horrendous photo – it was rainy and dark when I was working on this – but you get the idea.
I used two sizes of washers to make my simple M and glued them down with Tacky Glue. Be careful when applying the glue to not use too much as it seeps through the middle of the washers. You can use any strong glue or even a glue gun for yours. I erased the pencil marks and used a small paint brush with white paint to touch up any areas that needed to be cleaned up from where I made the pencil marks.

After a little drying time, I popped it in my frame and it is ready to display on my inspiration wall.

The washers are a great way to make personalized art that stands out to display on your wall. Any size, any background color and various simple images would work well. I think I may need to make another one... 🙂

Cute! This totally reminds me of a button monogram that I saw on Pinterest – I really like how shiny the washers are! Great job!!!

That is a unique idea. My name starts with M so it’s neat to see how my monogram would look. Thank you!
