hosting showers can be fun – romantic bridal shower decor

September 19, 2012 5 Comments

We’ll just pretend I’m posting these right after the romantic bridal shower I threw a few weekends ago. My dear friend Ivelis, is tying the knot in early November. I love throwing her showers (did her baby shower a few years ago – yes, a bit backwards but it is all good) and she loves the details. The key to hosting showers is to plan ahead. I started in late July making things here and there until I was done with the decor a week or so in advance.ย So here is it is….

When you walked into our dining room, this was the decor. Simple but sweet.

Our IKEA bar served as the buffet area. I printed out some of their engagement photos to decorate the blank wall.

Gluing doilies on small kraft bags is an easy way to dress up the utensils for a buffet and make it easy for your guests to pick up their goodies.

A drink station is key to any successful romantic bridal shower…at least if you are one of my friends. We had plenty of tasty beverages to keep us going ๐Ÿ˜‰

I dressed up my thrift store scoreย for the guest book and the mason jar soy candle favors.

The “guest book” were a collection of lightly spray painted canvases that guests could write their words of wisdom for the bride. I used doilies to make a very light outline on each canvas to tie everything together.

The cupcakes were simple with kraft paper liners and toppers I made with kraft paper and a stamp. I bought one of those customizable stamps which has come in handy for toppers. It is the same stamp I used to make the toppers for my yellow and gray bridal shower.

The one thing I did not do ahead of time for this shower were the flower decorations. I ended up going to a gas station flower stand and bought a bunch of these white flowers and green filler stuff. I’m clearly a flower genius ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m thankful that Miami has great flower stands at just about every gas station in town. Saved my butt that morning!!

The shower itself ended up being a small group of about 10 ladies which was honestly perfect. We had a great time. Talked a lot, drank a lot and laughed a lot. Best type of shower if you ask me.

๐Ÿ˜‰

I love the cupcake toppers and the low-key attitude you had! I wish I could go to a fun (read: drinking) shower! The last few I’ve been to, have had a big mix of generations, and the older (read: non-drinkers) have won out;)

Plus the baby showers aren’t usually so drinky and fun, and with 3 kids, those are the kind I’m going to more and more!

So happy I found your blog from Cassie’s.
