stencil time – martha stewart stencils

November 15, 2011 11 Comments

A few months back, a bunch of bloggers were receiving a stash of the new Martha Stewart craft paint and stencil collection. I will admit, I was insanely jealous. A ton of free paint, stencils and tools to try out. Are you serious? Why can’t I be a big blog and get those?

Instead, I relied on my trusty coupons from Michaels and ended up with my own little stash. Okay, so it wasn’t free and didn’t show up on my doorstep without ordering but I’m fine with that. Alright, alright, maybe I do want free craft goodies but I obviously have no trouble convincing myself I need to buy them.

You see the magazine holders in my craft room? The ones on the bottom left of the shelf?

Not exactly working with the bright and airy feeling I wanted in the craft room. Just a little too boring.

I laid them down flat since I knew I only wanted to paint the spine.

And then tried to decide on the stencil I wanted to use. Three large sheets of stencil came in one pack. Pretty good selection if you ask me.
I also bought these little roller adapters for the Martha Stewart paints. Genius little items.
I tested them on white paper just to make sure before using it on the magazine holders.

Holding the stencil down tight, I worked my way through my designs.

After letting them dry, my shelves ended up like this instead:

It took all of 15 – 20 minutes and I ended up with custom magazine holders for my craft room stash. I have to say, I love the stencils and the little paint rollers are amazing. I had to clean them out completely, which took some time but they were fun and really easy to use. What do you think?

What a cute little improvement. Isn’t it amazing what a little colour can do? I may try this with my woden magazine boxes from IKEA. Thanks for the idea!!

These are SOOOOO freaking cute! I love them! And I was INSANELY jealous of those Bloggers who got about $500 worth of Martha craft supplies just show up. But I was totally wondering about how easy those rollers were to clean… looks like it was definitely worth any trouble though! Love the colors and patterns! : )
