I made a few fabric wreaths years ago for a baby shower that were an instant hit. A girlfriend of mine suckered me into doing her daughter's fifth birthday party by sending me a ton of pins of things she wanted to buy, but I knew were easy DIY projects. I'm that friend. Just show me what you want and I instantly say "I can make that!" never mind what else is going on in my life. ;) So this is my colorful fabric wreath tutorial. I used the same basics from my fabric wreath tutorial just with a … [Read more...]
cuckoo 4 design – living pretty with my mutts
Have you met Julia from Cuckoo 4 Design yet? If not, you have to check out her blog. She is the sweetest and has amazing style. If you follow me on any of my social media handles, you probably saw me share a link to my guest post on her blog last weekend. If not, here is a chance to know how I ended up with 5 furry creatures I live with. Well, 6 if you count Ray, but I'm not talking about him... This post is all about how these scruffy little ones came into my life, and how I still manage to … [Read more...]
student for the day – building a diy midcentury console table – phase 1
A few weeks ago I shared I was playing student in the sculpture studio at Ray's university. Playing with major power tools is scary, but fun at the same time. Ever since we upgraded the family room sofas, I knew we needed to get a console table for the back of the sofa. We had a little c-table I made forever ago to hold a lamp and my glass of wine, but once we had the L-shaped sofa moved into the space, the table is useless for the person who sits in the coveted corner of the L. Tell me we are … [Read more...]
this is halloween – diy haunted mansion sign
Since it is no surprise that I'm a huge Halloween fan, it should be no surprise that my favorite ride at Walt Disney World is the Haunted Mansion. No matter how long the line, I must go on it at least once every time we go to Disney. Ray shakes his head every time. My employees I took to Disney in June thought, think I am crazy. I love it. It was obviously my inspiration for our DIY haunted mansion sign. I made this last year during my delinquent blogging year so I don't have photos … [Read more...]
time to get comfy – ikea throw pillow inserts
A few weeks ago, I gave you a tour of our family room's progress. We recently bought new sofas from West Elm that we absolutely love. They are super comfortable and spacious. Lily even had her 15 minutes of fame, when our local West Elm's Instagram feed shared her photo enjoying her new spot. As comfy as the sofas are, they don't come with throw pillows. Many, many throw pillows are a must in the house. We are cuddlers and loungers at night with all the mutts, and frequently actually fall … [Read more...]
this is halloween – a series
It's almost here! This is the time of the year that I start singing The Nightmare Before Christmas' "This is Halloween" over and over. Planning for Halloween is definitely one of the highlights of my year. I actually went all out last year for Halloween, but I wasn't blogging much and even though we had an epic Halloween party, I took no photos with my camera. Bad Anna. This year, I'm starting early with a new series, appropriately titled "This is … [Read more...]
words to live by – diy inspirational quote notebooks
I am pretty techy (okay, I admit it, I am a geek) and always have my iPhone, iPad or laptop by my side. I manage my life with technology in every way and form. That said, I love paper, notebooks, and pens. I have had this conversation with friends before, so I know I'm not completely insane because I love office supplies. I have a thing for Moleskin notebooks (and really good pens). I usually have both in my purse at all times. This is not a sponsored post - just the confessions of someone with … [Read more...]
student for the day – playing with power tools
As you can tell my sporadic posting this year, even though I promised myself (and you guys!) I would be back to blogging at least semi-regularly, things have been a bit up in the air. Work has been crazy due to many, many changes in the last 8 months. While I have a blast at work, it is also very stressful and draining at times. I decided I needed to start scheduling some mental health days. We have a decent vacation policy, so I added a few to the calendar to regroup and have some fun. … [Read more...]
