After I recovered from my mini Black Friday shopping spree, I begged Ray to go get the Christmas tree early on Friday. I was so excited to get it up this weekend. The mutts have always been great with the tree so the only thing on my mind was getting it up and decorated. In our old house the only disaster was that I was always insistent in getting a larger tree than actually fit in our tiny living room. Inevitably, Dylan's butt would knock over the ornaments if they were too low every time he … [Read more...]
sponsor time: rm pottery’s studio
We were not willing to comprise much in our house search which is why it probably took us almost 2 years to find a home. Our criteria was at least a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with a pretty open floor plan and at least a 1/4 of an acre lot. The home was preferably not updated (we don't trust the flippers that made the South Florida housing market was it was) and we were pretty set on the locations we wanted to live in. One of the most important features was a space for a ceramic studio. We were … [Read more...]

Anyone awake yet? Suffering from a turkey coma? I survived a very early and very quick Black Friday shopping spree. I only hit up Target for gifts for the kids and then did a quick run through at Michaels for some supplies. I think I made out pretty well for short trip. At the time I went, the stores were calmer than an regular Saturday morning. Success! Now that I slept in a bit more and had some coffee we are heading out to get one of these:ViaIt is time to start decorating and I'm so … [Read more...]
happy thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! We will spend today with our families and then have a little celebration here this weekend with some friends. I can't wait to put my table decor to good use.I hate that sometimes the rush of the holiday season causes us to lose sight of the real reasons we celebrate. I hope you take a moment and reflect on what makes your life worth celebrating and being thankful for. I know I'm blessed to have an amazing husband, five beautiful furry babies that make me … [Read more...]
tiling fun – subway tile backsplash time
We never had any intention to install our own backsplash. Actually, I should rephrase that....Ray never had any intention of letting me install the backsplash. I wanted to try it after watching too much HGTV and DIY network. Our walls are not exactly straight and since we decided on white subway tile for our backsplash, he convinced me to leave this to the experts. So we have been living with plain white walls since April when we did our initial reveal of the kitchen. These two photos were taken … [Read more...]
almost time for a drink – ikea hack bar
After my mini-meltdown at IKEA last Thursday night, I was dead set on making sure this project got off the ground this weekend. I did a solo trip to IKEA on a Sunday afternoon. I will never recommend that to anyone. Our IKEA is a good 30 - 45 minutes away, it was packed, the boxes were heavy and those carts are impossible to maneuver. Please tell me I'm not the only one that almost wipes people out with those sideways rolling carts. They are dangerous when fully loaded with boxes. Despite the … [Read more...]
