I'm so glad everyone enjoyed the gift exchange posts this week. This is one of the gifts I gave Cheryl. I found this awesome tutorial on making kitchen towel aprons at CraftWhatever. Seriously adorable and super easy. I pinned it and kept my eyes open for cute kitchen towels every time I was at Target. The thing is, I'm not great with the sewing machine. I'm not horrible but I'm definitely not an expert so I wanted to simplify the tutorial even more. Less steps = less chances I can mess it up. … [Read more...]
metallic chevron tile coasters tutorial
It is no secret that I love using inexpensive tiles as coasters. At 15 cents at the local hardware store, it makes for a perfect medium to getting creative. I had a special bloggy friend in mind when I made these so I went with a metallic chevron pattern. This was a complete experiment and I love they way they came out. I love it when experiments actually work out well. I used the Silhouette to cut out a chevron pattern on vinyl. I did a full 12 X 12 sheet so I could cut it down to cover 4 … [Read more...]
crafty present – how to make anna smile
It doesn't take much to get me to smile. Especially, when it involves craft goodies. I had a nice day with two of my cousins yesterday for an IKEA trip and lunch date. J wanted to thank me for something I helped her with so she decided that a gift bag of crafty presents was the most appropriate way. Do you see that stash? The craft hoarder in me had to try and regain my composure while looking through the gift bag. I am so excited to try everything out! Ray on the other hand, looked at glitter … [Read more...]
personalizing a white t-shirt – freezer paper stencil
Hope you all had a lovely weekend! Did anyone stay up late watching the Grammy's last night? I'm not one to watch award shows but I try not to miss the Grammy's. Especially with Sir Paul McCartney playing twice during the show and Adele sweeping the awards. Totally worth being a little exhausted this morning. Freezer paper stencils are now my "go-to" way to personalize a gift for the little ones in my life. One of our little loves turned a year old this weekend so I wanted to make her a … [Read more...]
start being awesome – a mini stencil painting version
I told you I was hooked on vinyl. It was so easy and I loved the results so I decided to to recreate a past favorite around here - my start being awesome painting. My original stencil art gave me a bunch of features and drove a ton of traffic to my blog. I was so excited (and still am) seeing this getting pinned as much as it did. I made two of these start being awesome paintings as gifts but honestly loved it so much I wanted my own. This mini version is on a 6 X 8 inch canvas. … [Read more...]
shine on you crazy diamond – vinyl stencil art
This year, while I decided to forgo actual New Year resolutions, I did give myself some Pinterest resolutions I wanted to follow through on. I tackled my first one in January by making freezer paper stencils for a baby gift. Since those were successful, I am officially hooked on playing with my Silhouette. Next up was using the Silhouette to cut vinyl. For my first few attempts with vinyl, I wanted to try it out on canvas to make stencil artwork. This is my Pink Floyd inspired piece. Shine On … [Read more...]
