Happy Monday! We had a great weekend including helping out with a surprise beer tasting party at a friend's house. In all the the excitement and last minute prep, we forgot the camera so I apologize for the iPhone photos. We had a hard time getting the birthday boy ouf the house to set up so it called for some last minute running around. This is the bottle cap inspired cake that was made with some of the snacks in the background. I'm thankful I was not trusted to make the cake. I made the … [Read more...]
beer tasting party – ideas
I have a dear friend who has made me her party planner. She is very sneaky. She'll ask me for my opinion on something and gets me hooked on the idea. Before I know it, I'm making all sorts of things before I have even realized what is happening. Baby shower? Done. First birthday party for her son? Done. Wedding? I have a list of to-dos to last me until their November wedding date. And yes, they did things backwards. She even told the priest I was her wedding planner before telling me! She's … [Read more...]
sprinkle cake – a pinterest baking semi-success
My bestie, Shannon, ran her first half marathon yesterday. She made it and kept an amazing pace the entire time. While going through her training the past few months she kept saying she wanted a chocolate cake, so I promised her one she could indulge in after she got home from the race. I was on Pinterest the other day (really, do I even need to mention that? I'm on it all day, every day) and saw this adorable sprinkle cake. Sprinkles seemed like an amazing addition to the chocolate goodness I … [Read more...]
repurposing empty frames – guest book or memo board
I wanted to share a quick little versatile project which cost less than $10 to put together - repurposing empty frames are easy and inexpensive ways to add a little something to party. My favorite part of this project is that it can be tailored to any decor or occasion. Some of you might have seen this when I shared this over atLiving Savvy's Spray Painters Anonymous Meeting last month. Just in case you didn't or are a new follower, I thought I'd share it here as well. This is my hanging memo … [Read more...]
valentine’s day – paper treat bags
Can I tell you the truth? I'm never been a huge fan of Valentine's Day. Actually, I pretty much have hated it my entire life. Why? Because it is my birthday. I was not big on my birthday being forgotten as a child due to the hype of the holiday. And now as an adult, I hate not being able to go out to dinner on my actual birthday because of the crazy crowds and crappy service. I guess I'm getting softer as I age because looking at all the adorable crafts on Pinterest inspired me to make little … [Read more...]
fabric wreath tutorial
Some of my favorite decor pieces from the baby shower I just hosted were the fabric wreaths I made. I love how simple and elegant they came out and I also love the fact that I should be able to repurpose these for other events and holidays coming up. I made one large one for the front door using a 10 inch foam wreath form and two smaller ones for my back door using the 6 inch wreath forms. If you like these, I hope this fabric wreath tutorial will be helpful if you try and make one … [Read more...]
