The hubs and I have been living together for over 10 years. When we moved into our first house we were dirt broke and just dealt with the furniture we had, or whatever we could scrounge up. I really, really, really wanted modern coffee and side tables from Room and Board. I had specifically fallen for a certain design that I was sure would be perfect for our space. All fine and dandy until I realized there is no was no way I could afford those in real life. This is where I am happy I married my … [Read more...]
a little help from our friends – porch column cover up
The saga of making the front of our house presentable continues. We are not close to being done, but we've made the porch and the front of our house a goal for 2014. We've made progress with lots of paint on the brick, door & ceiling, etc. But it still needs helps. Those old scroll-like columns drive me nuts. I've lived in two old Florida homes with them and I want them gone in this house. In comes my dad who is going to help us figure out decent porch column cover ups. … [Read more...]
scott olson painting in my house – and update to our ikea hack bar
Picture me doing a happy dance because I am doing an awkward one right now. This Cuban can't dance by the way. Once we refinished the bar area, we knew we wanted artwork or something to anchor the space. I used our IKEA hack bar all the time for parties or as my mantle for holidays. Using the bar as a buffet was perfect use for it but the space was so bare. For a while I was set on using a mirror at the top but Ray was not having it. I honestly thought it would be possible to find a painting or … [Read more...]
project nursery – chalkboard arrow sign
Don't get excited. There is no baby in the works for this blogger. I'm knee deep in planning for my bestie's first born. So far I've made a million Harry Potter onesies, have a secret Pinterest board for her shower & baby crafts, as well as a few other projects currently in the works. This chalkboard arrow sign shouldn't even count as a project because it was so simple. I went to Michael's last weekend for the #mpinterest party and picked up the wooden arrow with a coupon. Sadly, I was the … [Read more...]
but all I’ve got is a photograph – diy instagram photo display
Since digital cameras took over we have been horrendous at printing pictures. Even more so when our lives were taken over by iPhones. Tell me we are not alone? We don't have kids so I really had no excuse in my mind to start printing pictures for albums. I have so many shots I would want somewhere else besides my phone, but have been very lazy about it. In comes the idea of a DIY Instagram photo display. This is all over blogland already, but I finally got around to printing out some pictures … [Read more...]
pet crafts – national love your pet day
Did you know February 20th is National Love Your Pet Day? Neither did I until earlier this week. The Google says so, so it must be true. Of course, if you follow this blog, you know we love our pets. We have no kids, but these furry creatures we share our home with are our life. What better way to commemorate the love for your furry family members than with something for them? Here are twelve of my favorite pet crafts or inspirations - including some of my own :) … [Read more...]
