So if you noticed my posts the past few weeks have been pretty erratic in terms of content and there wasn't a whole lot of Christmas decorating going on besides my tree and centerpieces. You also might have picked up on a sense of urgency to finish a ton of pending projects. Not as festive as you would think I would be, right? I've had a very good reason. We've been scrambling to finish up some of the to list while working on a special surprise baby shower for a dear friend. We were jammed with … [Read more...]
a simple cover up – fabric covered canvas
Do you have blank walls you have no idea what to do with? Or maybe like us, you have something you want to cover up quickly and cheaply? This is such an easy project and I'm really happy with how it came out. Looks like a nice print or painting, right? It is a fabric covered canvas. All that was needed was a canvas in the desired size, enough fabric to cover it with a few inches to spare on each side and a staple gun. This is the view of our family room towards the main part of the house. … [Read more...]
shopping list – home decor
Happy Monday! Hope you all had a lovely weekend. I have to say, mine was pretty productive. I wish I had photos to share but last night was my office holiday party and I was too lazy after indulging in all that food and wine to get anything done besides laying on the couch cuddling with my mutts.I did get some shopping in to help finish off a few rooms. I am so grateful that most of this was done with Amex Rewards gift cards. Such a nice little perk that I'm thankful to have. Two of these gray … [Read more...]
almost time for a drink – ikea hack bar
After my mini-meltdown at IKEA last Thursday night, I was dead set on making sure this project got off the ground this weekend. I did a solo trip to IKEA on a Sunday afternoon. I will never recommend that to anyone. Our IKEA is a good 30 - 45 minutes away, it was packed, the boxes were heavy and those carts are impossible to maneuver. Please tell me I'm not the only one that almost wipes people out with those sideways rolling carts. They are dangerous when fully loaded with boxes. Despite the … [Read more...]
weekend plans – stalled project
A while ago I hinted that we were considering making a custom bar from IKEA kitchen cabinets. Last night we drove to IKEA after work and it didn't go as planned. Do you ever have those days where nothing seems to go right? That was last night. So instead of coming home with the cabinets to make a bar, we came home with an empty bag. At least the cat likes the empty IKEA bags.So we'll be spending some more time thinking through this project and our bar will look like this a bit longer. Sigh.I'm … [Read more...]
c table – ana white plans
I was able to build a table thanks to Ana White! A great little C table on wheels for our family room. This was my inspiration and I followed her instructions on almost every step. The only difference was our material list. Ana White suggests MDF but we had a ton of scrap plywood and access to a table saw so we cut down the plywood to her suggested sizes instead. I also used a nail gun instead of screws. That was fun.Click on the link below for her full tutorial and material list. My post is … [Read more...]
