and behind this door – florida room plans

January 22, 2014 11 Comments

I love my husband. I really do. But there are times that I want to make him sleep outside. Our family room (or Florida room because that is technically what it is) makes me want him in the yard overnight. Not even with the dogs because I would never let them sleep outside ;) The family room has been one of the projects that has slowly driven me crazy since we moved in. We've made a ton of progress from its original state but I just need it done. … [Read more...]

pet crafts – diy midcentury pet bed

January 10, 2014 14 Comments

While I do admit that most of my 2013 goals and Pinterest resolutions were a bust, I did finish one. Well, at least part of one. I've been plotting making a piece for the house with hair pin legs since I found hairpinlegs.com. I bought some forever ago and they sat there taunting me. What better way to put them to use than a DIY midcentury pet bed for those ratty, I mean stylish, little mutts of mine. Sadly, I lost the memory card that had the photos while I put this together but it was … [Read more...]

midcentury dreaming – a thrift store score

August 6, 2012 3 Comments

Happy Monday! Sorry for the lack of posts last week but I had a fun-filled work week in Denver, which gave me no time for posting. I didn't even get a chance to meet Nikki from The Ambitious Procrastinator for drinks like we had planned. Here is a photo recap of what kept me busy in Denver last week. As you know, I'm usually a thrift store failure. I've been dreaming of a dresser or two to use in my family room for some time now. I actually found two. This this is the second one I found. … [Read more...]

thrift store failure – wishing for a dresser

January 13, 2012 12 Comments

I have been on the hunt for a midcentury dresser or media cabinet for months. I hunt Craigslist daily but I swear that ours is pathetic. Everything is over priced and junky. I've done a few rounds at thrift stores but sadly came up empty. I'm going to need to step it up a bit and look more. Our family room really needs a media cabinet to help anchor the space. It would also house our TV and the miscellaneous electronics that come with. I'm looking forward to drawers or doors to help control the … [Read more...]

visiting primitive & proper – project recap

December 9, 2011 3 Comments

Happy Friday!! Anyone have any fun plans for this weekend? We are off to watch one of our favorite munchkins perform in his Christmas show tonight then have a weekend of holiday parties. How did we get to that point of the year already? It seems like we have a holiday party of some sort for every day until Christmas. We'll be squeezing in some painting, baseboards and tiling this weekend too...hopefully... I am absolutely thrilled to be over at Primitive & Proper today. Honestly, Cassie is an … [Read more...]

c table – ana white plans

November 9, 2011 8 Comments

I was able to build a table thanks to Ana White! A great little C table on wheels for our family room. This was my inspiration and I followed her instructions on almost every step. The only difference was our material list. Ana White suggests MDF but we had a ton of scrap plywood and access to a table saw so we cut down the plywood to her suggested sizes instead. I also used a nail gun instead of screws. That was fun.Click on the link below for her full tutorial and material list. My post is … [Read more...]
