Now that is is finally October, I can start decorating the outside of the house without the neighbors thinking I'm crazy. I didn't have any front door decor in my stash of Halloween decorations from the old house so I decided to make a wreath. This was a fun and easy wreath to make. A simple yarn base, some bats and a Trick or Treat mini banner along the inside.I simply wrapped the black yarn tightly around the entire wreath form. After I was done I went back and wrapped a gray piece of yarn … [Read more...]
the loss of a legend – steve jobs
I know this is a DIY renovation and craft blog but I am a marketer by trade with a huge focus on technology. The loss of Steve Job's last night hit me hard. I always had a far fetched dream of working for him. In remembrance here are the words to my favorite Apple commercial ever. Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You … [Read more...]
lazy mutt bed – tin bucket dog bed tutorial
I ended up buying a large white beverage tin with the intention of making something for the creatures. I really, really, really wanted to make this kitty play area for Annie based on this post from Gardners 2 Bergers but then we adopted Lemur. Crazy kitten + grass + dirt would not equal a good combination in our house. Condo Cat Backyard - From Gardners 2 BergerSo sad because it really is a cute idea for indoor kitties. The tin has just been taking up space in my family room all summer only … [Read more...]
a pirate’s life for me
We have a pirate bathroom. I know you are jealous and have always wanted pirate ship wallpaper. Admit it. Paired with pink and grey tile, a prehistoric vanity and built-in wall heater, it is definitely a stylish space. We have a pirate kitty too so it was a good excuse for the 9 months we lived with this bathroom. Annie needed to feel the new house was safe for her pirate kitty ways.Yes, she really only has one eye.Annie is settled so I thought it would be a good idea to tackle finally removing … [Read more...]
this is halloween – bat obsession
This Halloween it seems, I have a bit of a bat obsession. The front door wreath that is in progress has bats, there is a bat garland in my dining room and by this time next week I'll have hanging bats all over the house. Pictures and tutorials to come, I promise. It has been a long work week for me and pictures taken late at night after working at 12+ hour day don't really come out well enough for blog posting. In the meantime, here are a few of the inspiration pictures for my bat … [Read more...]
pet crafts – pet toy organization
This is nothing fancy but I figured I would share what works for us for all those cohabiting with furry creatures. Living with multiple animals equals an assortment of toys and pet stuff in general. While I love my babies, there are certain things of theirs I am not a fan of. Clutter in general is not my thing so their toys have been known to drive me crazy. What is the best way to keep the pet toys in order? Cute storage containers is what works for me. The cats have a little greek key paper … [Read more...]
the truth about the to do list
So I have a Monday confession. I want to talk about that list. You know, the one of all the projects you say you are going to do and never get to... Not the big ones you can't tackle because of real time constraints or money. The little annoying ones. The ones you could do if you just stopped playing on Pinterest, Facebook or your Google Reader. Or if you stopped making up excuses for why it isn't the right moment. Or if the hubby stopped watching golf (insert - football, baseball, soccer, etc). … [Read more...]
the unbecoming of mara dyer
I'm so excited to share this with you. My good friend Michelle Hodkin has her first book being released on Tuesday, September 27th - The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. I strongly encourage you to run out there and get the book. I can't wait to devour it in a few hours on Tuesday night after I attend the launch party. And I'm not just saying this because I have two namesakes in the book ;) What I've read has guaranteed me that I'll have to drop everything and read it cover to cover when I get in on … [Read more...]
