So if you noticed my posts the past few weeks have been pretty erratic in terms of content and there wasn't a whole lot of Christmas decorating going on besides my tree and centerpieces. You also might have picked up on a sense of urgency to finish a ton of pending projects. Not as festive as you would think I would be, right? I've had a very good reason. We've been scrambling to finish up some of the to list while working on a special surprise baby shower for a dear friend. We were jammed with … [Read more...]
a simple cover up – fabric covered canvas
Do you have blank walls you have no idea what to do with? Or maybe like us, you have something you want to cover up quickly and cheaply? This is such an easy project and I'm really happy with how it came out. Looks like a nice print or painting, right? It is a fabric covered canvas. All that was needed was a canvas in the desired size, enough fabric to cover it with a few inches to spare on each side and a staple gun. This is the view of our family room towards the main part of the house. … [Read more...]
1 year blog anniversary and a sneak peak
Well, it was actually yesterday but I was so tired I didn't move from the couch for most of the day. It has been a long and crazy year but it is so worth it. We closed on this house on the 21st of December last year. Most of our friends and family thought we had lost our minds especially when the house was looking like this. I started this blog with this post thanks to my cousin, JandJHome's encouragement. I've had so much fun documenting the journey and sharing it with all of you. I can't wait … [Read more...]
merry christmas!

After we've all recovered from the festivities, I'll share the fun :)Thanks for following Directions Not Included! … [Read more...]
subway tile backsplash – installation is not so bad!
I'm so excited about this project. I laid tile and so far so good!We started our kitchen renovation last December when we gutted the kitchen and started slowly rebuilding it. Since April we have had an almost complete kitchen. It has been fully functional but really needed the finishing touches. I was getting quite tired of looking at the random patched up walls. The hubby was so hesitant to let me tackle this but I'm so glad we decided to do it ourselves. These are the first three tiles I have … [Read more...]
visiting living savvy – memo board
Good morning! How is everyone doing today? I'm hurting from a very productive day yesterday. Baseboards were painted, tile was installed (almost done!) and a few crafts were completed too. Overall is it was a great day. I may need a few extra cups of coffee to get going today but I'll get there...I hope ;)I'm excited to be over at Living Savvy today showing one of the crafts I just recently created. Tiffany has an amazing style and equally amazing blog. If you haven't been there, please go check … [Read more...]
rest in peace dear christmas tree…
You read that right, our Christmas tree has moved on to a better life in the mulch pile. Right before Christmas too. I may have shed a tear or two but it had to go. Poor thing was dead and my floor around the tree looked like this several times a day. I wonder who had a hand, I mean paw, in the early demise of this tree. Good thing she is cute. It is sad to see it go so soon but since we don't have kids so I had to be realistic. The mess was too much with all the projects we have going on right … [Read more...]
visiting type a decorating – holiday tile coasters
Hope you are all having a fine Saturday. I'm taking a break from this weekend's project list to visit with Tammy at Type A Decorating. I'm participating in the 25 Days of Christmas Guest Bloggers series. I'm sharing how I made these holiday tile coasters which are great as gifts and perfect for adding a little extra decor to your home. They are so easy you still have time to add them to your list before Christmas. Trust me. Stop on over for a visit. If you are coming over from Tammy's … [Read more...]
