Since digital cameras took over we have been horrendous at printing pictures. Even more so when our lives were taken over by iPhones. Tell me we are not alone? We don't have kids so I really had no excuse in my mind to start printing pictures for albums. I have so many shots I would want somewhere else besides my phone, but have been very lazy about it. In comes the idea of a DIY Instagram photo display. This is all over blogland already, but I finally got around to printing out some pictures … [Read more...]
pet crafts – national love your pet day
Did you know February 20th is National Love Your Pet Day? Neither did I until earlier this week. The Google says so, so it must be true. Of course, if you follow this blog, you know we love our pets. We have no kids, but these furry creatures we share our home with are our life. What better way to commemorate the love for your furry family members than with something for them? Here are twelve of my favorite pet crafts or inspirations - including some of my own :) … [Read more...]
the final reveal – refinishing an exposed beam ceiling
Finally. I can finally say we are done with this back-breaking and tedious job. It sucked, but it is so worth it. Our exposed beam ceiling has been completely finished! Do a little dance for me. Wrapping this up gets us one step closer to finishing our family room. Let me remind you with what we started with. Old orangey stained beams, dropped ceiling tiles with a shoddy electrical throughout, and no insulation. This family room was seriously cringe worthy, but I knew it just needed (and … [Read more...]
i’m just getting soft – simple valentine’s day idea
Okay, maybe it really isn't completely growing on me but in my old age, "either I'm getting sensitive or else I'm getting soft". Yes, that is Bob Dylan lyric ;) I can't help it. I'm crafting for Valentine's Day. Eek. To be honest this simple Valentine's Day idea would not be possible without the Target One Spot. I love dollar anythings. Dollar Tree, Target One Spot, Michael's $1 bins - I love them all. When you pick up cute stuff at such ridiculous prices, you get in the spirit. At least … [Read more...]
happy 40th – simple mason jar centerpieces
Hi there! Hope you had a great weekend. We have a bunch of projects in different levels of progress but the weather has not been cooperating. Rain and humidity don't really help with painting, staining and outdoor fun. While we have the house stuff all over the place, at least I was able to get some simple mason jar centerpieces together for a party. … [Read more...]
i’m on team aaron – walk for wishes call for donations
This precious little boy is my friend's son, Aaron. Thankfully, this photo was taken what feels like forever ago. He is now cancer-free with clean scans for the past 15 months! They went through very scary times, but through the support of their family, friends, and his amazing spirit, they have pulled through the scary world of childhood cancer. You might recognize his story and shirt from here and here. … [Read more...]
and behind this door – florida room plans
I love my husband. I really do. But there are times that I want to make him sleep outside. Our family room (or Florida room because that is technically what it is) makes me want him in the yard overnight. Not even with the dogs because I would never let them sleep outside ;) The family room has been one of the projects that has slowly driven me crazy since we moved in. We've made a ton of progress from its original state but I just need it done. … [Read more...]
after all this time? always – harry potter onesies
What happens when your Harry Potter obsessed best friend finds out she is pregnant with her first child? You go nuts and make millions of Harry Potter onesies. Wait, I'm the only one that does that? I don't care, it needed to be done. The spoiling of my future honorary niece/nephew starts now. … [Read more...]
