After I posted about my washer monogram art, my lovely assistant in Chicago decided she wanted one for her new apartment. We share the same last initial so it was fun to try another version. As a reminder, here is the original one I made for our house in a small 5 x 7 frame. Simple and modern, which fits our style. I went a little more traditional with the font selection for hers. I printed out the M to fit on a 11 X 14 flat canvas so she could easily put it in any frame that matched her decor. privacy please – simple fabric curtain
I've been on a sewing kick lately and trying to be productive. My craft room closet is pretty organized but there is no way to close it to cover up the crafting stash when we have company over. I ripped out the door when we moved in because I hated the door and wanted easy access to the space. More importantly, I share my craft closet with the kitties - their litter boxes are hidden in there since it is out of the way. While we have "pretty" Booda Dome litter boxes they are not really design … [Read more...]
garden time – diy orchid garden
I love orchids. They are among my favorite flowers and they do so well in Florida so we've collected quite a few. My furry kids are well taken care of, spoiled actually, but plants I’m … [Read more...]
chalkboard obsession – diy chalkboard message station
After buying the chalkboard paint to make the chalkboard tables, I found myself eyeing all sorts of things to cover in chalkboard paint. I love the idea of chalkboard walls in kitchens and other spaces, but chalkboard paint on a large scale would not work in our home. I had to improvise, so I ran to Home Depot and picked up some MDF. I bought a small, thin, board for under 5 bucks. I sent the husband to cut it with the table saw in a few different sizes. He has access to the sculpture studio at … [Read more...]
good day sunshine – yellow pillowcases
We are slowly making our way through the second phase of our renovation. Since I know it will take forever, I'm taking advantage and crossing little decorating projects off of the list to make it feel like we are accomplishing something. Our family room gets amazing natural light thanks to full glass pane french doors and huge windows facing the West. It's our favorite room in the house even though it still currently looks pretty ragged. There is a huge list of major renovation projects to be … [Read more...]
