I revealed my craft room/office when it was about 90% complete back in March. It was one of the first rooms we tried to finish so I would have my dedicated space for crafting, studying and working from home. I’ve been making tweaks to it since but I finally have our most recent updates to share. I spent a lot of time thinking of what my craft room design would be, but ultimately, I wanted an airy space with a bright color and a combination of light and dark furniture. It is playful but … [Read more...]
bar plans
We have this strange space that flows from our dining room to our family room that we call our bar. It has already gone through a pretty big renovation. The picture on the left shows the area from our dining room to the bar when we closed on the house. The wall was covered in paneling and had a built-in wine cabinet. On the right you see the photo a few weeks after closing. We tore down the paneling and discovered a 1950/60s retro wallpaper mural. This is a crazy house and we have the … [Read more...]
happy monday!
Happy Labor Day and Happy Monday Off! I'm back from San Francisco after an amazing week at Dreamforce, the annual user conference for Salesforce.com. I had a great time but I'm happy to be home. I'm even more excited to have an extra day to play before the work week starts. Mondays off are the best!It is absolutely beautiful outside today so I'm off to craft and maybe get some time in the yard. Here is the sunny view from my patio this morning. Have a great day everyone! Thanks for following … [Read more...]
bath crashers – please come crash my baths!
Have you ever seen the show Bath Crashers on the DIY Network? Matt Muenster picks up unsuspecting customers at big home improvement stores then renovates their whole bathroom. He creates dream worthy spaces from otherwise ugly and outdated bathrooms. I'm insanely jealous of all those who get his bathrooms. I fantasize that this will happen to me. Seriously. I walk aimlessly around Home Depot in hope that one day I'll see him and can sweet talk him into coming to our house. Most of the people on … [Read more...]
privacy please – simple fabric curtain
I've been on a sewing kick lately and trying to be productive. My craft room closet is pretty organized but there is no way to close it to cover up the crafting stash when we have company over. I ripped out the door when we moved in because I hated the door and wanted easy access to the space. More importantly, I share my craft closet with the kitties - their litter boxes are hidden in there since it is out of the way. While we have "pretty" Booda Dome litter boxes they are not really design … [Read more...]
backyard progress
Summertime in South Florida equals BBQs with friends, enjoying a cold beverage in the yard when the sun and mosquitoes are not in full force. That's all lovely but there was no way that was going to happen in this house unless we took on the beast that was our yard. Let me take you back to when we first closed in late December of this past year. Our yard was looking pretty ragged. A trash pile would be the best description. A dust bowl of dead, patchy grass and a whole mess of construction … [Read more...]
