Bridal shower favors (and baby shower favors) range from really cute to really tacky, from useful to useless. They definitely are not a necessity, but when the showers are small enough, they are nice-to-haves. That is only if they are along the lines of the really cute and useful type of favors. Or if they are edible ;) I think mason jar soy candles have topped my list for favors from now on. I've seen tons of instructions out there but I used my dear bloggy friend, Tiffany from Living … [Read more...]
why I blog – and why I’ve been lost around these parts
Well hello there! I know I've tried to promise a few times that once I got settled in the new job, I would get back to my five-day-a-week posting cycle. The truth is, I just don't have time. I love my new job. I love my furry family (husband included). Because of all the commitments that come with that, my hours are limited. I've toyed with the idea of leaving blogging all together but the real reason I stay, is because I like sharing what I do. I blog because I like to create. Do I like it … [Read more...]
keeping clean with pets – how to have a clean home with smelly animals
So as many of you know, we are that crazy family with 5 animals. Most "normal" people think we are insane and think our house must have an unbelievable stinky animal smell to it. In reality, if they were not barking (or meowing) like the unruly creatures that they are, most days, you couldn't tell we had pets. I say most days because animal hair if not vacuumed every day, multiplies in my house. And there are those days that I have no energy to vacuum so the hair stays BUT the smell is not … [Read more...]
midcentury dreaming – a thrift store score
Happy Monday! Sorry for the lack of posts last week but I had a fun-filled work week in Denver, which gave me no time for posting. I didn't even get a chance to meet Nikki from The Ambitious Procrastinator for drinks like we had planned. Here is a photo recap of what kept me busy in Denver last week. As you know, I'm usually a thrift store failure. I've been dreaming of a dresser or two to use in my family room for some time now. I actually found two. This this is the second one I found. … [Read more...]
before and afters – a mini-tour 18 months into renovations
Happy Monday! I'm in route to Denver for the week so posting will be light. We had too much fun this weekend so we didn't get much work done. Those are good weekends though, and we definitely needed it! 18 months into this renovation, I finally decided it would be a good idea to start taking our after photos. The weather was crappy the weekend I decided to do this so I have to take new ones for some rooms so for now here is what we have. The craft room renovation you all know well. Our … [Read more...]
pom pom fun – diy angre birds game
Happy, happy Friday!! I'm so glad it is here. I've had a busy week and it is only going to get crazier since I'm headed out to Denver all of next week for work. Want to know the good thing? I'm not really stressed. Yes, I'm busy as can be and stressed about doing a great job BUT I love what I'm doing and it doesn't stress me in a bad way. That's a good thing, right? On Monday, I shared part of the gift I made for my girlfriend's little one who is fighting a rare form of cancer. He's a huge … [Read more...]
pinterest resolutions – a mid-year update
Pinterest resolutions. Why am I talking about resolutions in July?! Because I just realized I'm majorly slacking on mine. I decided this year that I would do Pinterest resolutions by rounding up some of my favorites pins and deciding to tackle one a month. Here is the image as a refresher. And here is where I currently stand... Canvas prints using gel medium and transparencies - Fell off the radar completely. Make a piece of furniture with hairpin legs. - Purchased the … [Read more...]
may the force be with you – star wards stencil shirt
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I will admit, I wish it was one day longer. My craft today uses the same freezer paper technique I've used a few times already but today's gift had a special purpose. A friend of mine has a little 5-year old who is fighting cancer. He was diagnosed in February with a stage 4 rare form of bone cancer. He is fighting hard and doing well after these first 5 months of treatments but he has a long road ahead of him. As part of a care package that I'm sending … [Read more...]
