weekend plans – more exposed beam ceiling work

January 27, 2012 13 Comments

Anyone have good weekend plans? We are have a fun-filled weekend slowly working on the exposed beam ceiling in our family room. I'm going to be honest here, this is one those projects that I know will be worth every minute when it is done but for the time being, it sucks. Really, really sucks. So time consuming and brutal on the back and neck. We've made progress though. Insulation, drywall and vents are in. All the drywall is perfectly primed and painted. As if that wasn't enough fun, we need to … [Read more...]

master bedroom – not everything is looking great

January 25, 2012 5 Comments

I can't be true to myself, or all of you for that matter, if I have a week of all beautiful reveals. Of course some rooms are in pretty good shape like the living room, kitchen and craft room. But in reality our entire house is still in flux. Renovating yourself can be a very slow process. Case in point, our master bedroom. It has been over one year since we bought this house and we are still in one of the extra rooms instead of the master bedroom. Probably because it has looked like this for … [Read more...]

before and after – living room reveal

January 24, 2012 15 Comments

I have another reveal! Two reveals in a row, it must be a good week! But before I jump into the reveal, I'm begging for some good vibes. We have our final inspection today for the central AC unit we had installed in the back of our house for the family room and master bedroom. We really need to pass so if you have any good thoughts to spare, I'll gladly take them. I promise to give them back. Our living room has been pretty close to being done for some time now, but for some reason I have never … [Read more...]

backsplash reveal – diy white subway tile

January 23, 2012 16 Comments

I hope you all had a great weekend. We kept it pretty low key only tackling a few projects around the house and some crafts. Best parts of the weekend were meeting baby Parker (who I made the freezer stencil onesie for) and finally taking pictures of the house!. We can finally share the DIY subway tile backsplash I installed. Our kitchen renovation is ALMOST there. If I wasn't married to Mr. Start-100-Projects-At-One-Time, we would be further along in our renovations instead of having 100 … [Read more...]

repurposing empty frames – guest book or memo board

January 19, 2012 3 Comments

I wanted to share a quick little versatile project which cost less than $10 to put together - repurposing empty frames are easy and inexpensive ways to add a little something to party. My favorite part of this project is that it can be tailored to any decor or occasion. Some of you might have seen this when I shared this over atLiving Savvy's Spray Painters Anonymous Meeting last month. Just in case you didn't or are a new follower, I thought I'd share it here as well.  This is my hanging memo … [Read more...]

valentine’s day – paper treat bags

January 18, 2012 12 Comments

Can I tell you the truth? I'm never been a huge fan of Valentine's Day. Actually, I pretty much have hated it my entire life. Why? Because it is my birthday. I was not big on my birthday being forgotten as a child due to the hype of the holiday. And now as an adult, I hate not being able to go out to dinner on my actual birthday because of the crazy crowds and crappy service. I guess I'm getting softer as I age because looking at all the adorable crafts on Pinterest inspired me to make little … [Read more...]

thoughtful tuesday – words to live by

January 17, 2012 2 Comments

I hope all of you who had a long weekend enjoyed it! Anyone take care of great projects or had some good ol' fun? We worked hard on the house all weekend. So hard that every part in my neck, upper back and arms is sore. I'm tired but happy. Pictures to come when I can get off the couch tomorrow to plug in the camera. On another note, I have had these pinned for sometime and felt today would be as great of a day as ever to share them with you. These are words that I hold close to my heart at work … [Read more...]
